About Me

Hi! My name is Jesse McBrearty and I am an upcoming graduate from Fordham University’s Lincoln Center Campus in New York City.

I am a Visual Arts major with a concentration in Painting and Drawing, and I am also double minoring in Art History and Fashion Studies.

At Fordham:

At Fordham University, I have taken various visual arts and art history classes, including Graphic Design, Art Design & Politics, Contemporary Art History, and Modern Asian Art History. These courses have been an amazing growing experience for me, especially working with aspiring artists of various cultural backgrounds, which has allowed me to constantly learn from and adapt to different approaches to creating and evaluating art, both in the studio and classroom environment.

Internship Experience:

When I studied abroad in London, I had an internship at the Kristin Hjellegjerde contemporary international art gallery, where I had the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of running the gallery. I learned about curating exhibitions, organizing their extensive database, photoshopping pieces for online buyers, how to conduct a sales pipeline, marketing and advertising around London, and developing models for international art fairs, including Untitled Miami 2019. One of the aspects of working at Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery that I found the most inspiring and educational was working with international artists from Africa. Getting the opportunity to work with artists that come from such a different culture and background than me enabled me to better understand the motivations behind their art.

Mission Statement and Interests:

As a young Jewish woman artist, it is important to me to work in an environment that envisions a more inclusive world for marginalized communities, especially through art-making and social awareness. I am always seeking a creative and collaborative environment, and I am passionate about Visual Arts, Museum Curation, Costume Design, Theatrical Production, and Social Justice and Reform.
